Getting Started with FamilyNet
What is FamilyNet?
FamilyNet is a private, regional social platform designed for families, school and provincial communities. It offers a safe place to chat, share, and stay connected without outside exposure.
Who can use FamilyNet?
FamilyNet is available to the public, however, a School ID is necessary to sign up. Any family connected to a participating school can join, or a family can search our online registry for a school ID and use it to create a new account.
How do I sign up?
You create an account using a school-provided code. Once your account is set up, you can create and link your family members.
Why is FamilyNet available only through schools?
We have adopted this model for two reasons;
- Schools help verify the community and ensure only trusted members join, which creates a protected environment.
- It allows schools to receive fundraising support from each subscription.
School Partners & Sign-Up Process
How do schools receive funds?
FamilyNet works with schools as registered partners and uses Stripe, the same secure payments platform used by services such as Lyft and DoorDash, to manage payouts.
Contributions are automatically disbursed to the school on an ongoing basis through Stripe’s payout system.
Why is it necessary to join through schools only?
This keeps the community authentic. It ensures every family is connected to a real school, creating a trusted and safe ecosystem.
What access do schools have to family accounts?
FamilyNet implements a clear separation of family privacy and fundraising benefits to schools.
- Schools are linked to FamilyNet strictly for partnership and funding purposes.
- Schools do not have access to family accounts or private activity.
- Schools cannot see private messages, posts, or shared content.
- Schools cannot access family profiles or account details
- Schools do not manage, moderate, or oversee family interactions
All family activity remains private within the FamilyNet platform and is visible only to approved members of the family’s community.
Can we change the school associated with our account?
Yes. You can reassign your Family Pack to another participating school anytime.
Will schools see our private activity?
No. Schools receive only fundraising reports. They cannot see messages, photos, or any family activity.
Family Accounts & How They Work
What is a Family Pack?
A Family Pack is your subscription that includes a set number of linked accounts for parents, children, and caregivers.
How many members can I add to my Family Pack?
You can add up to the number included in your plan. You can add, remove, or reassign accounts anytime.
Can grandparents join our Family Pack?
Yes. You can include anyone in your group: grandparents, friends, relatives, colleagues - it does not matter.
Can we link multiple households?
Yes, it is possible by creating a community group and inviting other members to join your community. For example, you could create a personal community of Pet Owners and invite other members in your region to join the community.
What happens if a child changes schools?
Your Family Pack continues. You can update the school connection in your account settings or add a new school code.
